Pores are the small spaces through which sweat and sebum flow if you have skin. They're found at the surface of the skin, in the follicles. Hair, sweat glands, and sebaceous glands are all found in each follicle. (It's no surprise that they might be a breeding ground for skin disorders!)
Pores serve a crucial function in the body, but most individuals would rather not have them at all – or at least have the appearance of not having them. Because pores can cause difficulties as well. What causes visible pores?
Large pores are caused by a variety of factors, including acne and age. Pores that are clogged are more noticeable. Even if pores aren't clogged, excessive oiliness makes pores appear larger in general. Pores will be more visible if your skin is irritated or inflamed (due to acne or you trying to resolve your acne with harsh skincare products or by playing dermatologist and doing your own extractions).
Pores that appear to be overly large can affect anyone, not just acne sufferers. Sagging skin also enlarges pores by stretching them out. This loss of firmness could be caused by aging, sun damage, or a combination of the two.
